Diagnosing Acute Compartment Syndrome

What is ACS ?

Following trauma, swelling caused by an increase in muscle pressure can lead to Acute Compartment Syndrome.

Diagnosis is primarily based on perceived and observed pain. The challenge is that pain is relative and varies from patient to patient, making ACS difficult to diagnose.

Odds of compartment syndrome in relation to the number of clinical findings present [1][2][3]

25%

with pain alone

26%

with pain on Passive Stretching alone (PPS)

68%

with presence of 2 clinical findings (pain, PPS)

80-99%

with presence of 2 clinical findings + Pressure (pain, PPS, cICP)

MY01

MY01 stays with the patient and allows for seamless handoff during the entire episode of care, up to 18 hours.

MY01’s small size makes it an ideal tool to assist in the diagnosis of ACS.
